Donald Trump Is TIME’s 2016 Person of the Year

“Me growing up reading TIME magazine, it’s a very important magazine. I’ve been lucky enough to be on the cover many times this year and last year, but I consider this a very, very great honor,” Trump said Wednesday on the Today show moments after the announcement was made. “To be on the cover of TIME magazine as Person of the Year is a tremendous honor.”

Today I take a famous Icon and find 5, yes, just 5 lessons that they can teach us.

I feel like I should start by saying “In no way does this post politically endorse any presidential candidate”
I wanted a challenge with today’s post so why not choose a person, who’s got an onslaught of negative press in his career and find The Positive life lessons he could inspire in others.
Regardless of your feeling towards the man, whether positive or negative, here are the facts:

Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is a Successful American businessman, television producer and politician, who is the Republican Party nominee for President of the United States in the 2016 election.

His Net Worth is US$3.7 billion (2016)

He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization, which is the principal holding company for his real estate ventures and other business interests. During his career, Trump has built office towers, hotels, casinos, golf courses, an urban development project in Manhattan, and other branded facilities worldwide.

In light of this information, it is evident that Mr. Trump does have some motivation & inspiration to offer us all.

5. Branding Smanding

“If your business is not a brand, it’s a commodity.”

My awesome Author friend & mentor Akasha Garnier has written an unbelievably amazing book that’s all about how to create & amplify your brand. Check it Out
Branding is super important but deciding on your brand can be a daunting task. This awesome review on the book sheds light on Akasha’s exceptional #PersonalDevelopment skill
4. Seeing is Believing

“If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.”
As I’ve said, from personal conversations with people & the posts online, Donald has received an onslaught of negative press throughout his career. Both against his personality & his business ethics. Has that stopped him from moving forward? Nope, not in the slightest. Infact the guy has now set his sights on becoming President, Lex Luthor Style {jj}.
Mr. Trump has shown us that he has a supreme belief in himself & his ambitions.
3. Go BIG, or go Home
“I like thinking big. If you’re going to be thinking anything, you might as well think big.”
My ultimate phrase in life is to Dream BIG so this lesson fits perfectly into that. He even says “Most people think small because they are afraid of success, afraid of making decisions, afraid of winning.”
Now while I do believe that we are ALL unique and have our own reasons for doing the things we do, this lesson stands strong. We should all strive for the next level, to never settle for the ordinary when we can become ExtraOrdinary.
I mean look at this guy, the business world wasn’t enough. He decided he wanted to become the President of the United frickkin States of America and HE DID IT!!!
2. Experience Beats Paper
“Experience taught me a few things. One is to listen to your gut, no matter how good something sounds on paper. The second is that you’re generally better off sticking with what you know. And the third is that sometimes your best investments are the ones you don’t make.”
I saw someone posted a tweet saying something about how Donald came in with no qualifications yet became president yet he had to study for 5 years, get a degree Only to get an entry level job…

Entrepreneurs, especially successful ones like Donald Trump prove time & time again that experience beats paper on every single occasion. Especially when it comes to achieving the very things that others thought impossible. Be daring, go with your gut, you never know what’s around the corner.

1. Get Going or Get Gone
“Get going. Move forward. Aim High. Plan a takeoff. Don’t just sit on the runway and hope someone will come along and push the airplane. It simply won’t happen. Change your attitude and gain some altitude. Believe me, you’ll love it up here.”
Today Mr. Trump proved that even if a vast majority of people from all over the world are against you, nothing can stop you if you stick to these 5 lessons & move forward…

Watch the LIVE Trump Victory Speech Here:

We ALL have the potential to do Great things, no matter how smart or educated we are. No matter how big or small we are. No matter how strong or weak we are. No matter our race, culture or religion. And no matter our circumstance.

It all begins with the decision to TRY.
R.I.P: Heath Ledger

From one of my favorite movies, A Knight’s Tale:
“Can a man change the stars?”
“Yes William. If he believes enough, a man can do anything!”

This is probably the best thing I heard all day. After waking up to learn that Donald Trump was elected the next president of the United States, I truly needed to see this light, especially from his own words. Put aside our feelings, truth is the guy build an empire. He is a great business man, so let's hope he will do good things for America. Thanks for sharing this!

After the UK's surprise Brexit vote, we aren't the only country facing uncertainty and unsettled times. Interesting post.

  4. I didn't vote for him but now that he has won I'm not surprised and I'm waiting to see what he does. It's almost better hat he won because there won't be a "what if?" – we are all going to find out in the next four years.

  5. Carin Harris says:

Wow well I applaud your optimism. I've only heard negative comments today from the people who claim to have not voted for him – I have yet to hear anything from the people who did vote for him – apparently a larger group. Good for you for moving along.

  6. Joel says:

You know, as much as this election was a gong-show, it has taught the world valuable lesson.

No, the lesson is not that America is screwed. Far from it actually. America will be find.

It taught the world that anything is truly possible. If you dream it, work for it, it can and will be yours.

    Great article

  9. The election was so intense last night! Pretty stoked that he won.

  10. Well I agree with him on the dream big point. I just hope that his lack of political experience isn't going to be hinders om. All his talk is just words for now, so I'm just waiting it out to see what he does.

  11. It's nice to see someone portraying a positive light on the situation but it will be interesting to see what happens next.

I can't find a positive thing about this man and his negative rhetoric.

  13. I think, let him what he can do. No hates please. Just my opinion.

  14. A controversial and hot topic! Very unique perspective compared to the usual lol. Good work!!

  15. Ron Leyba says:

My personal opinion with Trump as President is, let him do the job first before complaining about anything. Right?

  16. That's some great pointers! I agree with Ron. WE need to give this guy the benefit of doubt.

  17. I have to say, while I was totally shocked by the outcome of the election, I am pretty glad it ended the way that it did. Sometimes you have to do things totally 100% differently to get better results.

I applaud you for not letting hate consume you. There is so much hate and fear right now, but people like you and I are looking at the bright side of the dark side.

  21. Polarbelle says:

Very nice post. What we each can do is live one day at a time instead of living in fear of the future. Despite personal flaws, this is a smart man…a smart man listens to his advisors…time will record the events.

  22. Elizabeth O. says:

One thing's for sure, he sure knows how to market even himself. Congratulations to him and I am hoping he changes this country for the better.

  23. No matter how great of a businessman he is, he will never be a great person for me. Thanks for the quotes anyway.

  24. NaturallyAri says:

I love that you can bring light to a situation that most people only think negatively about. Although I didn't vote for him, I'm not going to let this entire situation change my love for our country. I'm sucking up my pride and giving the man a chance. He may surprise us all.

  25. I don't know what to say about the Trump presidency. My opinions are half, and I don't want to sound like a bias.

  26. Tiffany says:

Interesting perspective. I wouldn't consider him a good businessman, but one can certainly be inspired by the potential to become president.
